Danang Fireworks Festival
A Symphony of Light and Sound on the Han River
2025/05/30 - 2025/07/11
Every summer, the coastal city of Danang in central Vietnam becomes the stage for one of Asia’s most spectacular events: the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF). Held over six consecutive weekends from late May to mid-July, this festival attracts fireworks fans, families, and travelers from around the world. Whether you’re a first-timer or a returning visitor, DIFF is a multi-sensory celebration of peace, creativity, and friendship painted across Danang’s night sky.
As dusk falls along the Han River, the air fills with the aroma of grilled street food, the salty sea breeze, and the excitement of the crowd. When the first fireworks light up the sky, music and color envelop the city, and everyone is swept up in the magic of a truly unforgettable night.
Main Attractions
International Fireworks Competition
The heart of DIFF is its world-class international fireworks competition. In 2025, ten teams from nine countries-including Vietnam, Finland, the UK, Portugal, Poland, South Korea, Italy, Canada, and China-will compete across six themed nights. Each team has 20 minutes to present a spectacular fireworks show perfectly synchronized with music, culminating in a grand finale where the year’s champion is crowned.
Live Concerts & Cultural Performances
DIFF is more than just fireworks. Each night features live concerts by popular Vietnamese and international artists, traditional music, and dance performances. Street parades, art installations, and interactive booths add to the carnival atmosphere, turning the whole city into a festival.
Traditional Food & Street Eats
Food lovers will find paradise among the street stalls: banh xeo (Vietnamese pancakes), freshly grilled seafood, spring rolls, and che (Vietnamese desserts) are just some of the highlights. The scent of charcoal, lemongrass, and fresh herbs fills the air. Enjoy local beer or tropical juices while watching the fireworks from the riverside or a rooftop bar.
Cultural and Historical Background
The Danang International Fireworks Festival began in 2008 as Vietnam’s first international fireworks competition. Its aim was to boost tourism and share Danang’s vibrant spirit with the world. Today, DIFF has become a symbol of the city, drawing pyrotechnicians and visitors from across the globe. Each year’s festival has a unique theme, delivering messages of peace, creativity, and international friendship.
For Danang’s residents, DIFF is a source of pride and joy. The fusion of art, technology, and community has helped elevate Danang into one of Southeast Asia’s leading cultural and entertainment cities.
