About Site

This site is an online database media introducing festivals from around the world.

There are countless diverse festivals across the globe, each vividly reflecting the history, traditions, and daily life of its region. From the lively bustle of summer matsuri to the grandeur of carnival and the solemn atmosphere of religious ceremonies—each festival carries its own unique appeal and deep significance.

“Although there are many media outlets covering festivals, when you can’t actually visit, wouldn’t it be nice to have a place where you can easily enjoy them through articles and videos?” With that idea in mind, we created this site.

Through photos, videos, and articles, we strive to convey the atmosphere and cultural background of festivals that are difficult to attend in person, so that anyone can experience and enjoy them remotely.

We hope the festival information and footage featured here will serve as a gateway to deeper cultural understanding. And if our digital experiences inspire you to one day visit these festivals in person, we believe that will meaningfully contribute to the festivals’ preservation.

In addition, we donate a portion of our net proceeds (after operating expenses) to UNESCO, so that by enjoying our content you are also supporting the protection of world cultural heritage. We hope this creates a virtuous cycle: you enjoy the festivals, and in turn help sustain them and their communities.

Our Passion for Festivals

The inspiration for launching this site comes from my childhood experiences. From an early age I took part in my local festivals and came to realize that they are not mere entertainment, but living cultural heritage—condensed expressions of a community’s history, beliefs, and the passion of its people.

As a student I even worked behind the scenes on festival operations, firsthand witnessing the tremendous care and dedication invested in preparing and sustaining these events. I want more people to appreciate the value of festivals that have been supported and passed down by countless hands.

However, various circumstances—including the COVID-19 pandemic—have made it difficult for some to visit in person, and many festivals have been forced to scale back or pause entirely. Aging organizers and financial challenges also confront numerous festivals today.

At the same time, advances in digital technology make it possible to experience festivals through articles and videos without physically being there. While this shift may affect the festivals’ intrinsic value, it also offers new opportunities to rediscover their appeal and share them with a wider audience in fresh ways.

Online experiences and on-site attendance are certainly different, but digital encounters can spark deeper interest and ultimately lead to real-world visits. We hope this site becomes a window through which those unable to travel can access and connect with diverse cultures around the globe.

We will continue to carefully convey the “now” of festivals worldwide so that the information and inspiration you gain here deepen your understanding of each community’s culture and people, making the world feel closer than ever.

Every festival has its own intrinsic value and charm. Through this site, we hope you enjoy that diversity and truly appreciate the importance of cultural heritage.
