Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX)
A festival where tradition, adventure, and Arabian pride resonate together
2026/08/28 - 2026/09/05
Every late summer, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) transforms into the stage for the Abu Dhabi International Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), where tradition, innovation, and spectacle converge. As the largest event of its kind in the Middle East, ADIHEX attracts over 170,000 visitors and hundreds of exhibitors from around the world. Whether you’re interested in falconry, equestrianism, outdoor culture, or simply want to experience the aesthetics and lifestyle of the Emirates, this is a unique festival where you can immerse yourself in the living traditions of Arabia with all five senses.
In the vast exhibition halls and arenas, Arabian horses, falcons, saluki dogs, and camels gather; the aroma of grilled meats and Arabic coffee wafts through the air; and the tactile feel of leather, woodcraft, and traditional handicrafts abounds. Both locals and international guests are invited to encounter Abu Dhabi’s living cultural heritage, where the past and future meet in every corner of the festival.
Main Attractions
Falconry, Equestrian Shows, and Live Heritage Performances
The heart of ADIHEX is the daily live shows and demonstrations. Watch skilled falconers showcase the speed and elegance of their birds, marvel at the artistry of Arabian horse performances, and enjoy the rare displays of camels and saluki dogs. In the arena, you’ll find horseback archery, police dog demonstrations, poetry readings, and traditional music, all offering a multisensory experience of Arabian beauty and pride.
Auctions, Competitions, and Interactive Experiences
High-stakes auctions for falcons, camels, hunting knives, and artworks are thrilling to watch. Visitors can try archery or shooting at interactive booths, join horse grooming or falconry workshops, or even take desert survival classes. For families, there are craft activities, animal encounters, and the inclusive “People of Determination” studio, ensuring fun for all ages.
Costumes and Decorations
Emirati men in kanduras and women in abayas mingle with visitors in riding boots and outdoor gear. The venue is decorated with falcon motifs, Arabic calligraphy, and traditional tents. The scents of oud, leather, hay, and saddle soap fill the air, while handmade saddles, ornate daggers, and embroidered fabrics create a bazaar-like atmosphere that is both luxurious and authentic.
Traditional Food and Drink
In the food area, you can taste Emirati specialties like harees (wheat and meat stew), grilled camel, fragrant rice dishes, and luqaimat (sweet dumplings). Arabic coffee and dates are served as a sign of hospitality. The aroma of spices, fresh bread, and roasting meats fills the air, offering a true culinary journey through UAE food culture.
Cultural and Historical Background
The Abu Dhabi International Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) was established in 2003 to preserve and promote the UAE’s traditions of falconry, horsemanship, and sustainable hunting. Rooted in Bedouin life, the event celebrates the wisdom and skills needed to survive in the desert and to live in harmony with animals and nature. Today, it is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, attracting over 100,000 visitors and hundreds of exhibitors from more than 50 countries every year.
The exhibition was founded under the wise leadership of the UAE, especially the Emirates Falconers’ Club and the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was passionate about hunting, horses, and the preservation of Emirati heritage. ADIHEX has grown into a global platform where tradition meets innovation, offering not only the latest equipment and animals but also live heritage performances, educational workshops, and awareness activities about sustainable hunting and conservation.
ADIHEX is more than a commercial event-it is a living cultural legacy, passing on the wisdom of Emirati ancestors, the beauty of Arabian horses and falcons, and the importance of these traditions to future generations. The venue displays historical photos, documents, and rare crafts, and brings together falconers, breeders, artists, and outdoor enthusiasts from across the Gulf and the world. In recent years, the event has placed a strong emphasis on sustainability, environmental protection, and the relationship between tradition and modern society, inspiring new generations to carry forward the UAE’s living heritage.
