Road March (Grand Parade)

The biggest highlight of Bacchanal is the Road March, where thousands of masqueraders in elaborate costumes dance through the streets behind music trucks. Moving to the beats of soca, reggae, and dancehall, the crowd sways together as Kingston’s main avenues become a whirl of excitement. The parade ends in a massive street party, with the energy lasting until sunset.

Beyond the parade, there’s a packed schedule of events: Soca Monarch competitions, J’ouvert (a pre-dawn paint and powder party), themed fetes, and beach parties. Live performances by local and international artists keep the nights lively, each with its own unique vibe. J’ouvert, with its clouds of colorful powder and paint, is especially popular—everyone ends up covered in color and smiling from ear to ear.
